Background.
Engineer first, business translator always.
Licensed Electronics Engineer who wandered into Data & AI, and stayed. 8+ years across academia, R&D, and industry. Most recently leading data engineering and data science teams before going independent in late 2023.
Contract work has spanned AI & ML engineering for AU software consulting, data engineering for a UK Airbnb revenue firm, and marketing analytics for US clients across airline, eCommerce, on-demand delivery, and investment management. Across the stack: production data engineering (dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Databricks, DuckDB), applied AI (agents, RAG, evaluation, LangChain / LangGraph), and research in computer vision and robotics (IEEE-published).
I care about systems that survive contact with real data, real users, and real deadlines. Explainable on a napkin, debuggable at 2 a.m.
Outside client work, I write on Medium, guest in YouTube tutorial channels about data careers, and publish free Notion roadmaps for people trying to find their way in, because the path I took was poorly documented, and I'd like that to be less true for everyone else.
